Why builders are ditching affordable homes in India 

Private developers are stepping away from affordable housing due to soaring land prices, says G Hari Babu, President of India’s National Real Estate Development Council. He highlights that state governments are struggling to fund housing schemes, largely because of mounting financial burdens from populist freebies. Meanwhile, India’s rapidly growing urban population is fueling the rise of slums, as the gap between demand and supply widens.

Stony Plain Council Briefs: Stony Plain Council Approves Option for Additional Residential Waste Cart 

At last night’s meeting, Council gave first reading to amended Land Use Bylaw 2726/LUO/25. The proposed amendment to the Land Use Bylaw redistricts 4204 Veterans Boulevard from C2 – General Commercial to R8 – High Density Residential. The proposed change supports future residential development in the South Business Park and aligns with the Municipal Development Plan and neighbourhood plan.
