Brisk pace in city for resale housing

Sales of resale homes in the city set a brisk pace to start the year, increasing by 15 per cent in January compared to the same month in 2012, says the Calgary Real Estate Board.

Total sales of homes of all kinds rose to 1,230 units, up from 1,068 units last year, says the board.

But sales still haven’t reached the levels of peak years 2003 to 2008. “While activity is typically slower in the winter months, recent improvements in single-family new listings helped support improved sales in that market,” says incoming CREB president Becky Walters in a news release.
