Our family moved to New Zealand several years ago and we are finally ready (financially and mentally) to purchase our first home. We have a friend who is a real estate agent in another city and they have been giving us advice. Through them we are learning a lot about the buying process, because it’s very different to our country of origin. The thing that we are finding quite difficult is that there is such a variety of property types to choose from and we don’t know what we should worry about and what is considered “normal’ by Kiwis. We feel like we’ll never be able to catch up on the learned experience that other people have. Where do we start?
