Construction pace rises 14 per cent

Construction starts of single-family homes in and around the city increased 14 per cent from Jan. 1 to the end of March, says a federal agency.

Starts in the Calgary census metropolitan area rose to 1,427, up from 1,256 starts during the same period last year, says Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp. The area includes the city as well as surrounding communities such as Airdrie, Chestermere and Cochrane.
