CALGARY – The rate of annual inflation in Calgary and Alberta topped the national average in August, according to Statistics Canada.

The federal agency reported Friday that the Consumer Price Index rose 1.7 per cent in the Calgary census metropolitan area in the 12 months to August while for Alberta it was up 1.4 per cent.
