EDMONTON – The proposed $50-million overhaul of Churchill Square and surrounding streets into a downtown Civic Precinct was effectively killed Wednesday by councillors concerned about the cost.

“Everybody is telling me it appears to be a waste of money and it could be money that would be better spent on other things,” Coun. Kerry Diotte said.
