Edmonton could be the first city in Canada to lay claim to its own indoor velodrome, after the city recommended an $8.5 million design budget for the project Tuesday.

The facility, which would replace the outdoor cycling track in Argyll, would be part of a proposed $97-million Coronation Park recreation centre.
