Last week the City of Calgary announced it would be banning tobogganing within city limits and confining the popular winter activity to specific parks and hills which can more easily be supervised by city officials. The impulse behind the ban seems to be protecting the city from any liability as a result of tobogganing injuries, which some sources peg at about 1,100 last year in province of Alberta.
