Mayor Blokland will run for second term this October

High River Mayor Emile Blokland will seek a second term in this October’s municipal elections, looking to continue overseeing the community of roughly 13,000 as it strides through an unprecedented era of double-digit growth.

Blokland told the Times in an extensive interview Thursday that his decision was partly fuelled by a desire to continue building on some of town council’s key legislative achievements over the past three years, specifically efforts to bolster the community’s transportation corridors.
