CALGARY — WestJet announced Tuesday that its February 2013 traffic resulted in a record load factor of 86.1 per cent, up 3.4 percentage points from the year before.
Revenue passenger miles, or traffic, increased 7.3 per cent year over year, and capacity, measured in available seat miles, grew 3.1 per cent over the same period. The airline flew 1.4 million guests in February, a year-over-year increase of 5.5 per cent or approximately 74,300 customers.

Scheduled passenger service between the Red Deer Airport and Abbotsford International Airport will commence on March 3.
Northwestern Air Lease Ltd. announced late last year that it had received Transport Canada approval to extend its existing Red Deer-Kelowna, B.C. route to Abbotsford, B.C. It released details on Friday, including the anticipated start-up, frequency and fares for the service.

The Town of Peace River continues to seek a major airline carrier to operate out of the Peace River Airport, with the acting CAO and a councillor recently attending an Air Canada conference.
Councillor Colin Needham and Acting CAO Paresh Dhariya, met with representatives from Air Canada on December 12 in Montreal aiming to make Peace River a known prospect to the company.
