A Toronto tax lawyer is warning realtors — and people who’ve bought and sold new condos over the past seven years — that they could become unwitting victims of what he calls “abusive audit practices” by the Canada Revenue Agency.

An audit on Rocky View County’s financial statements for 2012 shows an $8.4-million drop in debt from the previous year.
The audit was completed and presented by Pricewaterhouse Coopers group on April 30.

Council members were presented with Airdrie’s 2012 Annual Report at a their meeting last Monday, and it’s findings were positive.
“Our results for 2012, as reported in our financial statements, indicate that the city is in good financial health,” said Lucy Wiwcharuk, director of corporate services for the city.

When it comes to the financial records of the Town of Stony Plain, the Municipality is in good shape, an independent auditor has confirmed.
“Overall, the Town is in good financial health,” Phil Dirks, a chartered accountant with Hawkings Epp Dumont LLP, told Town Council at the regular Council meeting on April 22, 2013. “I believe this is the same message I delivered to Council about the Town’s finances as last year, and that is a good thing: the Town’s financial records are accurate, clear and well-kept.”
