Police department’s eyes in the sky need new base on the ground

EDMONTON – The Edmonton police department is under pressure to find a new base for its fleet of aircraft as city council forges ahead with plans to redevelop the City Centre Airport lands.

The police department has operated its fleet from the municipal airport since first acquiring a fixed-wing plane more than 25 years ago, and then expanded operations at the airport when it purchased two helicopters, the first in 2001 and the second in 2008.
