Liberton bike park officially dead

Liberton Park will not be the site of a new mountain bike skills park, which goes back to the drawing board with both of its proposed locations officially denied by city council.

Council voted Tuesday night on a raft of motions that stops all work by administration on planning construction of the park at Liberton, as well as rescinds previous motions calling on all previous sites to be re-evaluated.

Chris Stephan floats motion to kill bike lane project

One Red Deer city councillor wants to put an end to the controversial yet award-winning bike lane pilot project.

On Monday, Coun. Chris Stephan put forward a notice of motion to discontinue the bike lane pilot immediately and for city administration to prepare a plan to remove the lanes that have resulted in the loss of on street parking and motor vehicle lanes.

Council puts brakes on some bike route plans

EDMONTON – Angry homeowners and businesses won a partial victory Wednesday when councillors put part of this year’s bike route construction on hold for more consultation.

Many of the 20 speakers at the transportation committee were upset about plans to eliminate street parking for the bike network, particularly along much of 76th Avenue from 78th Street to 100th Street.

Mixed emotions coming from area residents regarding designated County OHV park area

Parkland County is making the news in the capital region with area residents expressing concern over a proposed designated Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) park at the popular Hells Half Acre area.

OHV’s include snowmobiles, quads, mini bikes and any additional means of transportation built for cross country travel on land powered by means other than by muscule or wind power.
