Cattle breeders bullish over industry outlook

Sunday’s snowstorm may have caused headaches for drivers, but it was welcomed by organizers of the 113th annual Calgary Bull Sale set to take place at Stampede Park on Wednesday and Thursday.

Doug Finseth – president of the Alberta Cattle Breeders Association, which organizes the event – said prior to the storm, conditions in much of Alberta were so dry that some ranchers were looking at having to reduce the size of their herds. That would have meant a smaller attendance at the Calgary Bull Sale, the longest-running consignment bull sale on the planet.
