Colchester School to close down

Colchester School will be closing and moving to Fultonvale School due to the 500-kv Heartland Transmission Project’s construction.

According to Bruce Beliveau, superintendent of Schools for Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS), the move is needed due to the proximity of powerlines from the Heartland project. Line builder Epcor offered alternative routes around the school, but EIPS opted to move the school’s students to Fultonvale Elementary-Junior High.

Modular classrooms will be on site at Fultonvale by July 1, 2013 and will be ready for the 2013 – 2014 school year.
