EDMONTON- In recent days and weeks, Oilers owner Daryl Katz or his employees have insulted their best customers to the core, making open threats to move the team to Seattle and thinly veiled ones to move the squad to Markham, Ont.
This comes in the wake of Katz’s surprise demand for a $6-million annual subsidy to run the new downtown arena, then his attempt to justify it with self-serving statements that are simply not true, namely Katz’s contention that Edmonton is one of the “smallest of small” NHL markets.
