A second wave of harvesting in the West Bragg Creek area has again sparked the flame of debate between stakeholders involved.
Spray Lake Sawmills (SLS), which recently completed a logging operation this past winter in the Bragg Creek area, will hold an open house May 8 to address what Gord Lehn, woodlands manager for SLS, said is an area just to the west of the Cochrane company’s last operation.

Put on a pot of coffee draft copies of two mammoth bylaws are set to enter the final stages of public debate today.
The 181-page Off-site Levy Bylaw and 104-page Land-use Bylaw will be introduced at City Hall today at the Development and Infrastructure committee and the Municipal Planning Commission, respectively.

Black Diamond’s water treatment plant and an outdoor recreation facility are among the major items soon to be discussed in the Town’s 2013 budget meetings.
Mayor Sharlene Brown said she expects budget discussions to be underway and a wish list established for major projects in town either later this month or early February, adding council is right on schedule with its 2013 budget.
“Everything is going absolutely fabulous for Black Diamond right now and we are right on track,” she said. “For the budget numbers we will probably be looking at late January, early February and then it will take a few meetings to get through it.”

Community leagues and activists will have more time to collect their thoughts and lobby council after a series of contentious changes to the mature neighbourhood overlay were postponed Monday.
The Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues sent out an alert Sept. 17 after they saw the proposed changes, which they argue would make it easier for developers to build homes with large, suburban style front garages in mature neighbourhoods.
