Still considering a variety of sites for a detox centre in Medicine Hat, Alberta Infrastructure says a business case study will be completed in late December – putting an end to the “ready by 2013” expectation, says a local MLA.

“I’ve had about 10 constituents call me about the detox centre,” said Drew Barnes, MLA for Cypress-Medicine Hat. “It’s frustrating and unfair being the only city in Alberta without a detox facility.”
A month ago, Health Minister Fred Horne confirmed Alberta Health Service was considering Earl Kitchener School as a possible location for a residential detoxification site.
