Okotoks and Foothills back in federal riding

Voters can expect few changes in the foothills area once new riding boundaries come into effect for the next federal election.

The Macleod riding could get a new name and be a little smaller if the report of the Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for the Province of Alberta is approved, but it will not sever the riding in two as considered in an earlier proposal.

New riding proposed for Fort area

Fort Saskatchewan residents may be united in the near future, as a submission has been put forward for the redrawing of the province’s federal electoral map.

Currently, the Fort is divided between two ridings: Edmonton-Sherwood Park, represented by MP Tim Uppal; and Vegreville-Wainwright, represented by MP Leon Benoit.

Recently, however, the Federal Electoral Boundaries Commission for Alberta submitted its report for redistribution to the chief electoral officer of Canada.
