CALGARY — Provincial dithering over funding of a long-awaited film studio in Calgary threatens to derail the project, as well as potential tax revenue and other economic spinoffs, says Calgary’s film commissioner.
Luke Azevedo, film commissioner for Calgary Economic Development, told film and television workers at a weekend information session that the current business plan for the proposed $32-million Alberta Creative Hub is in jeopardy.

Local producers and film crews say they’re frustrated the Alberta government has yet to come through with funding for a long-promised sound stage and film studio in Calgary.
Even as the Calgary-area plays host to shooting for both the Heartland and Hell on Wheels TV series, the studio project remains in limbo.
