Land survey of Edmonton-area property centre of disciplinary hearing

EDMONTON – A 1995 land survey of Joe Koopmans’ Edmonton-area property is at the centre of an upcoming disciplinary hearing.

The Alberta Land Surveyors’ Association has compelled Amar Surveys of Calgary to appear Wednesday at the in-camera hearing in Edmonton. As the complainant, Koopmans will also be in attendance, and said he expects to tell his version of a conflict that has its roots in a 1995 survey of his family’s nine hectares located about eight kilometres southwest of the River Cree Casino.

Hearing being held to address blame for Cochrane Lake’s high water level

A hearing will be held before the Environmental Appeals Board regarding a water management order issued to Regional Water Services (RWS) and its owner, Jeff Colvin, by Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development (AESRD).

The order was delivered this past August by the AESRD, demanding that Regional Water Services begin pumping and maintaining the water levels at Cochrane Lake.

Fired-up residents crowd council chambers to protest pending Allan Beach development

Opposition was out in full force to an application to amend a bylaw that would allow construction of a private, seasonal recreational community at Allan Beach during a public hearing at Parkland County on Oct. 9.

Nearly 100 residents of the area surrounding Allan Beach overflowed into council chambers with 80 per cent expressing opposition over the proposed development.
