Strathearn Heights infill project heading back to city hall

EDMONTON – Plans for redeveloping Strathearn Heights are heading back to city council after sitting on the shelf for five years.

The plans to replace 500 aging townhouses with a mixture of 20-storey residential towers, low-rise apartments, new townhouses and commercial space were passed by council in 2008, but put on hold after the economy slowed.

Infill, budget big issues: candidate

Dave Anderson is back in the game, announcing his campaign to be elected councillor for Strathcona County’s Ward 2 in the fall municipal election.

“I love Sherwood Park. It would be a privilege to serve in that capacity, if I was elected,” said Anderson, who finished second and 634 votes behind Roxanne Carr in the 2007 Ward 2 election.

Public input for old neighborhoods

Strathcona County council was presented with an initiative at a Sept. 25 meeting that looks into the future of mature neighbourhoods in Sherwood Park.

The Mature Neighbourhood Strategy is a planning initiative to determine how redevelopment and infill opportunities are to be considered within the older areas of Sherwood Park.
