EDMONTON – The province should look at doing land swaps with some of the 11 oilsands companies with land leases inside Fort McMurray’s proposed new urban development region, says a city official.
And the government should definitely turn down a proposal from one company to extract bitumen then build houses on the land a decade later, once the drilling is done, said Mike Evans, Fort McMurray’s executive director of stakeholder relations.
