CALGARY — Calgary led the country in February with the best annual price growth in the MLS Home Price Index released by the Canadian Real Estate Association on Friday.
But the Calgary market followed a national trend of declining MLS sales in February. However it was at a much lower pace. Nationally, sales were off nearly 16 per cent from a year ago but they were down only two per cent in Calgary.

A single-family detached home in the Edmonton region fetched an average of more than $400,000 in February, according to MLS statistics released Monday.
The Realtors Association of Edmonton says an average single-detached home in the Edmonton census metropolitan area sold for $400,973 last month.

CALGARY — Calgary’s resale housing market set an all-time average sale price record in February, eclipsing the mark that has stood since the boom in July 2007.
According to the Calgary Real Estate Board, the average MLS sale price for a single-family home during the month was $518,452, up 10.32 per cent from last year while the average price for overall MLS sales in the city was $457,119, up 7.49 per cent year-over-year.

CALGARY — The Calgary region can expect to see increases in both sales and average MLS prices for the next two years, according to a housing forecast released Friday by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corp.
The agency said sales in the Calgary census metropolitan area will grow by 1.37 per cent this year to 27,000 units followed by another 2.59 per cent growth in 2014 to 27,700 transactions.

CALGARY — While Canadian home sales dipped in January, particularly in major centres like Toronto and Vancouver, Calgary’s housing market remained strong and posted the best year-over-year growth in the country for MLS transactions.
The Canadian Real Estate Association reported Friday that Calgary MLS sales during the month were 1,572, up 20.2 per cent from January 2012 while sales across the nation dropped by 5.2 per cent to 23,579 transactions.

Red Deer’s home resale market enjoyed a fast start to 2013, with 99 Multiple Listing Service sales recorded during the first month of the year.
That was 15 per cent ahead of the tally for the same period in 2012, when there were 86 sales.

CALGARY — Alberta will lead the country this year and in 2013 in the pace of growth in the resale housing market, according to a new forecast by the Canadian Real Estate Association.
The national association of realtors said Monday that Alberta MLS sales this year will finish up 13.1 per cent from last year to 60,800 transactions and sales will lead the country next year as well with 1.3 per cent growth to 61,600.

EDMONTON – Edmonton single-family home prices in November were 4.9 per cent higher than a year earlier, according to Multiple Listing Service figures released Tuesday.
The average selling price of a single-detached home last month was $382,923, up from $364,892 in November 2011. The median price for singles was $363,000 in November, the highest since August. The association said this indicates there were more lower-priced homes sold in the month.
