Moose becoming an issue in city

Alberta Fish and Wildlife officers were forced to shoot and kill a moose that ran through four schoolyards and jumped a six-foot fence in the south end of the city Monday morning.

The 600-pound bull moose was the second to be euthanized in the city since Dec. 31.

Fish and Wildlife officers caught up with the moose near the Dave Barr Arena. Officers tracked the bull through the St. Patrick Catholic and Alexander Forbes school grounds before it sprinted towards 69 Avenue. With officers hot on the heels of the erratic animal, the bull managed to swing around towards the Montrose junior high school and Aspen Grove school areas.
