Castle Mountain earns international accolades

Although Castle Mountain is well known around southern Alberta, some of its small-mountain charm and secrets may soon reach a wider audience.

The resort’s chutes, a series of double black-diamond runs, have recently earned a nod in the U.K. publication Snow Magazine’s “Top 10 secret spots.”

The article says: “In our opinion, they’re truly special places to click into your bindings or from which to kick back and take it all in.”

SW Alberta free from pine beetles

Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resource Development announced this week that they found little no pine beetle activity in southwestern Alberta.

Officials set 24 bait sites and 9 funnel traps, which all revealed little or no mountain pine beetle activity in southwest Alberta, resulting in no necessary control operations in the mountain forests between the Red Deer river and the US border.
