McCoy highest local school in Fraser Institute ranking

The Fraser Institute released its annual Alberta High School Rankings over the weekend.

Among Medicine Hat schools, Monsignor McCoy ranked the highest on the list. Out of 279 schools surveyed, McCoy ranked at number 41. Out of the other city schools, Crescent Heights high School ranked 123, while Medicine Hat High School ranked 137.

The 10 best U.S. cities for urban forests

Joni Mitchell sang about “paving paradise” in the 1970s, but some U.S. cities like Portland, Ore., are now making parks from parking lots and creating urban forests that cut pollution and save energy. Which are the nation’s 10 best for greenery?

For a top 10 list, released Tuesday, a federally funded survey looked at the 50 most populous U.S. cities to see which have the most parkland per capita as well as which do the most to create green spaces and make them accessible to the public.

University of Alberta school back in business

EDMONTON – After finishing out of the running the past two years, the University of Alberta has again been ranked one of the top business schools in Canada and the world by the Financial Times of London.

The Alberta School of Business is ranked 100th globally and sixth in Canada on the 2013 version of the newspaper’s influential list of the world’s top 100 business schools. The British newspaper ranks business schools according to measures such as career development, research capability and diversity of programs based on a detailed survey of alumni from each program.
