High River is sitting steady in Moneysense magazine’s annual ranking of Canadian communities, scoring high on jobs but showing some surprising weakness on population growth.
The town came in 79 out of the 200 communities analyzed in the widely publicized rankings, released Wednesday.

As “Moneysense” magazine released its list of the Best Place to Live 2013, Lethbridge rocketed up the charts, from a 25th overall placing last year to ninth overall this year. What’s more, the city ranked fourth in the top 10 mid-sized cities category, behind a pair of Ontario cities at the top, Burlington and Oakville, and British Columbia’s Saanich in third.

EDMONTON – St. Albert has been named Canada’s best small city, with Strathcona County and Lacombe ranked just behind, according to MoneySense magazine’s annual survey, released Wednesday.
The survey, which bases its rankings on data such as employment, housing prices, crime, weather and household income, was also high on Edmonton. The Alberta capital scored third among large cities, behind top-ranked Calgary and second-place Ottawa.
