Many of those planning on buying a home are first-time homebuyers: RBC poll

TORONTO – Fewer Canadians are planning to purchase a home in the next two years, but more than a third of those will be first-time homebuyers, according to a study released Tuesday.

The annual poll by Royal Bank (TSX:RY) found that 15 per cent of those surveyed say they’re likely to buy in the next two years, a drop from 27 per cent from the previous year.

Calgary listed as one of the more affordable housing markets in Canada

CALGARY — Calgary experienced a housing market renaissance in 2012, reaping the benefits of strong provincial GDP and in-migration, which propelled home resales in the area, says a report released Monday by RBC Economics Research.

The latest Housing Trends and Affordability Report listed Calgary as one of the more affordable housing markets in Canada.
