EDMONTON – Edmonton is pushing ahead with designing the new Coronation Park recreation centre and velodrome as part of capital budget changes councillors passed Wednesday.

Edmonton could be the first city in Canada to lay claim to its own indoor velodrome, after the city recommended an $8.5 million design budget for the project Tuesday.
The facility, which would replace the outdoor cycling track in Argyll, would be part of a proposed $97-million Coronation Park recreation centre.
