Alberta sees 4.4% hike in retail sales

CALGARY — Alberta recorded the second best year-over-year growth rate in retail sales in November, according to Statistics Canada.

Sales reached $5.9 billion during the month, up 4.4 per cent from November 2011, said the federal agency on Tuesday. Newfoundland and Labrador led the country with an annual growth rate of 5.2 per cent.

Alberta rate of retail sales growth the best in Canada

CALGARY — Alberta led the country in September in the rate of growth for retail sales, according to Statistics Canada.

The federal agency reported Thursday that sales in the province reached close to $5.9 billion during the month, a 1.7 per cent increase from August and up 8.5 per cent from a year ago.
