First Calgary Target stores could open in May, job-seekers told

CALGARY HERALD – Calgarians offered jobs by Target Canada this week said they were told the first stores in the city will open mid-May.

The chain — whose U.S. division is the second largest discount retailer south of the border — has not confirmed exact opening dates, saying only that its Chinook Centre, Market Mall, Forest Lawn, and Shoppes at Shawnessy locations will open sometime this spring.

U.S. retailer Targets Edmonton shoppers

EDMONTON – Tents, warming fires and a giant snowflake created by a well-known British artist took over Edmonton’s Churchill Square on a chilly Saturday.

It wasn’t the city’s latest winter festival but the Edmonton stop of a cross-country marketing blitz by Target Canada, which will open its first six stores in Edmonton, St. Albert and Sherwood Park starting in the spring. The U.S.-based retailer is opening 124 stores across the country.
