Completion of Villeneuve Airport’s extended runway and new instrument landing system is expected to finish by November, 2013 and will be certified by Transport Canada in February 2014, said Steve Maybee, director of airport operations at Edmonton Airports at a site tour on Thursday.

Medicine Hat needs to maximize the airport its got before considering a multi-million dollar runway expansion, according to a report presented to the City’s Development and Infrastructure Committee on Wednesday.
The assessment, prepared by city staff and consultants from SNC-Lavalin, states that there is no business case currently for a longer runway but the City should continue with planned terminal upgrades and keep its options open in the future.
