Town council looking at new rec rate schedule

High River Town Council will consider a new proposed recreation rate schedule at their Jan. 14 meeting, which could provide discounts for clubs renting the ice during non-peak hours, as well as set a $3 daily rate for families using the spray park.

Council briefly debated the rates for ice-time rentals and spray park users during budget discussions at the tail end of 2012, with some councillors seeking to clarify fees for family members accompanying children to the spray park but not using the facility themselves.

Airport upgrade could begin 1 year ahead of schedule

The City of Medicine Hat is in the final stages of approving a major upgrade to the city-owned airport terminal, a measure that could coincide with the arrival of a new Western Canadian air carrier.

Senior city officials and staff members met Wednesday for a final analysis of proposals to increase capacity and functions at the Medicine Hat Regional Airport.
