Sobeys Station Square set to be sold

Fort Saskatchewan’s downtown is about to get a major facelift.

Before the Sobeys Inc. acquisition of Safeway Canada’s can be approved by the Competition Bureau, the grocery giant will have to sell off 23 of its western Canadian stores — one of the casualties of the fire-sale will be the Station Square Sobeys in the Fort.

Sobeys first store in Quarry

Sobeys is the first to put shovel into ground in The Quarry that will radically change the downtown core of Cochrane.

The foundation is now being laid for the Sobeys grocery store being developed on the corner of Railway St. and Charlesworth Ave.by Barry Metcalfe to replace his existing Cochrane IGA store. The new store will be more than double the size of the existing Cochrane IGA.
