AIRDRIE – Representatives of arts groups in Airdrie are rejoicing at the news of $500,000 in funding from the federal government for the renovations to Bert Church Theatre.
“It’s really exciting,” said Kim Cheel, president of the Nose Creek Players theatre group. “To get the support from the federal government for a rural arts project is amazing. It’s (funding) one step forward to be able to offer the opportunities we want to offer but are currently limited by space.”

AIRDRIE – The expansion for Bert Church Theatre is one step closer to being constructed, now that city council has endorsed the facility design.
The long-awaited expansion of the theatre is scheduled for construction in 2013, and includes an expanded lobby, a box office and coat check, washrooms, a multi-purpose space, and a dedicated dressing room for the professional artists who perform at the theatre.
