Competing plans for race car tracks jockey for position

On a coulee overlooking the majestic valley of the tiny Rosebud River, race car enthusiasts want to enact their turbo-charged vision.

It’s a strikingly similar plan to one that’s been launched on a rolling prairie east of Airdrie: to open a grand racetrack that draws in the speed lovers who have been wandering since Calgary’s Race City Speedway closed in 2011.

Track coach seeks multi-use development at Legion Field

A Peace Wapiti Academy track and field coach is looking for a little flexibility as the city examines its tennis courts across the city.

Louis Chabot approached the city council’s community development committee Tuesday to express concerns about development plans for the city’s tennis courts at Legion Field near the Composite High school.

The city does currently have a plan to re-develop some tennis facilities around the city, including the one at Legion Field, but a full review is expected to take place.
