Rail oil boom creating jobs as Keystone approval wait drags on

WASHINGTON – For all the debate over building the Keystone XL pipeline, the oil is moving without it.

Railroads such as Warren Buffett’s Burlington Northern Santa Fe LLC are the rolling alternative, keeping oil flowing from the Bakken in North Dakota to refineries along the Texas Gulf Coast, as the White House deliberates on the fate of TransCanada Corp.’s petroleum artery.

Enbridge says it’s not threatened by TransCanada pipeline plans

CALGARY— Enbridge doesn’t see a rival pipeline company’s plan to ship western crude east as a threat to its own ambitions, new CEO Al Monaco said Wednesday as the firm posted improved quarterly results.

TransCanada Corp. (TSX: TRP), another major Calgary-based pipeline operator, said last week its plan to convert part of its natural gas main line to crude service appears to be economically and technically feasible, and that its customers seem to be keen on the idea.

TransCanada, Phoenix team up to build $3-billion Alberta pipeline

TransCanada Corp.and Phoenix Energy Holdings Ltd. are forming a partnership to build a $3-billion pipeline project in Northern Alberta to serve an area of emerging oil sands production.

Each of the companies would own half of the Grand Rapids project, which they expect will carry crude oil and diluent for oil sands producers northwest of Fort McMurray, Alta., starting in early 2017.
