Vast stretch of Highway 63 to be twinned in four years, cabinet minister promises

WANDERING RIVER —Alberta’s transportation minister promised Friday the province will twin a 240-kilometre stretch of Highway 63 by the fall of 2016, saying the government will borrow at least some of the estimated $778 million to fast-track the project.

County looks into twinning Hwy. 15

The Countyof Strathcona is drawing up plans to twin Highway 15 from Range Road 220 to Range Road 210 as part of the Capital Region Transportation Master plan for the area.

The county’s highway study, which wrapped up its third open house in the region last Wednesday evening, will advocate closing three current intersections, building a railway overpass, and constructing the eastbound two-lane portion of the highway by using land immediately south of the current roadway.
