No vehicles on new trail system: County

The County of Grande Prairie is warning trail users that enforcement officers will be vigilant when it comes to enforcing the rules of the new Wapiti Dunes trail system.

The paved system, finished in September 2012, travels south on Range Road 61 from the Correction Line, then loops around the Dunes, travelling as far south as Dunes Road.

Commercial vehicles may face restrictions

Drivers of large trucks, vans and semi-trailers may soon face restrictions when parking on Turner Valley’s Main Street this spring.

Turner Valley Protective Services patrol supervisor Trever Bowman approached Town council at its regular meeting on Nov. 5 with two options to limit commercial parking on Main Street in response to residents’ and merchants’ concerns about parked commercial vehicles potentially causing collisions resulting from reduced visibility for pedestrians and motorists.

Residents speak out about bylaw

AIRDRIE – Recreational vehicles and personal property rights were the two hottest topics at Monday night’s council meeting.

City of Airdrie Manager of Municipal Enforcement Darryl Poburan, along with members of Airdrie municipal enforcement, brought the comprehensive and controversial Community Standards bylaw to council Monday night for a public input session and final readings. As council fully expected, it was the RV portion of the bylaw that had most people in the gallery up in arms. Council eventually decided to table the bylaw until the first week of December.
