Think Local Market looks to grow

The brains behind Think Local Market, Melanie Bekevich-Joos, attended the County of Grande Prairie council meeting Monday to discuss how her local-minded business could boost sales for local entrepreneurs.

ThinkLocalMarket.com is a municipality-funded website that provides an online vendor for local producers in 14 communities throughout the region.

Municipalities, such as the County and City of Grande Prairie, need to purchase annual memberships so that their ratepayers can take advantage of the service.

Job ads outnumber job seekers in Calgary

Calgary – A new report examining online job ads has become the latest indicator of Calgary’s increasingly tight labour market.

The Conference Board of Canada’s Metro Help Wanted Index — released Wednesday — looks at the number of new, unduplicated jobs posted online across 79 job-posting websites. According to the data, the number of ads posted by Calgary employers increased by 6.7 per cent during the month of December.

Calgary region looks to attract business and investment with new website

CALGARY — The Calgary Regional Partnership has launched a new website, with the Calgary Real Estate Board, to promote and sell industrial/commercial properties to a global audience.

The website www.explorecalgaryregion.ca, officially launched on Thursday, is looking to attract business and investment.
