Originally part of the village of North Edmonton, Belvedere was annexed into the city in 1910. Fort Road has been used commercially since horse-drawn wagons clomped between Fort Saskatchewan and Edmonton. However, the majority of residential development in Belvedere happened in the 1950s and 1960s. In the early 2000s, the City of Edmonton undertook a revitalization project along the Fort Road area that included road widening and the redevelopment of the area south of Belvedere Station into a ‘mixed-use residential and commercial community.’
