The year 2015 brought a new economic reality to the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. Amid thousands of layoffs in the oilsands, the municipality was forced to adapt to a future of stagnating revenues and lower spending. At the same time, council dealt with the legacy of the boom years in the form of capital projects like the Sports and Entertainment Centre.
