Q: I live in a traditional duplex-style condo. Twice in the past 13 months, I have had cracked water pipes underneath the kitchen floor. These pipes are very close to the outside wall and drain my kitchen sink. I have not been able to determine the cause of these vertical cracks in the pipes. The condo board does not view this as their responsibility because the damage was in my unit only, and no one in the past has ever asked the condominium corporation to repair or pay for the repair of a cracked water pipe. Who is responsible for this, me or the condominium corporation?
