Europe’s housing crisis: In 2008, 29 per cent of the population in the EU was living in rented accommodation. This figure rose to 30 per cent in 2021. In absolute numbers, considering the population boom in the EU on the back of migration, this 1 per cent translates to a significant growth in renters.
