Alberta economic snapshot for Dec 15, 2012

CALGARY, AB, Dec. 15, 2012/ Troy Media/ – Sometimes life is one step forward and two steps back. That’s exactly how it must feel for certain Alberta manufacturers in October – and least according to the recent data on manufacturing released this morning.

Total manufacturing sales in the province slid to $6.29 billion in October, a drop of 1.4 per cent from its level in September (adjusted for seasonality). Much of the drop was due to a plunge in one particular category of manufacturing: food processing. It dropped to $876 million, down a whopping 15 per cent from its recent high in August.
