The Alberta government is banking that population growth, job creation, and rising consumer spending will continue this year, in spite of the deep discount now battering Alberta oil.
On Thursday, the Redford government predicted the province’s economy will grow 2.9 per cent in 2013, in spite of a weaker price outlook for Alberta bitumen that has led to a more cautious approach to energy investment in the province.
