And Alberta is sitting on one of the Earth’s largest masses of the stuff – making the province the envy and driver of the Canadian economy and the favourite target of political attacks from eastern politicians in 2012.
Three stood out – NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair’s Dutch disease musings, Liberal MP David McGuinty’s rant against Alberta MPs and a Justin Trudeau interview in which he bemoaned the province’s growing clout in the federation and how Quebecers make better prime ministers.
