Police in Calgary are smoking out dramatically more marijuana grow operations than those in Edmonton.

In 2011, officers uncovered 94 of the criminal gardens in Calgary compared to just 16 in the provincial capital, whose population is about 320,000 smaller.

The previous year, 27 of the grow-ops were busted in Edmonton while 122 were seized in the Stampede City.

It’s a pattern that dates back to at least 2007.
