Calgary police see fewer marijuana grows, call on public to keep eyes peeled

Police busted fewer marijuana grow operations in Calgary neighbourhoods last year, but investigators say they still need the public to step up and help nip ongoing problems in the bud.

A total of 66 warrants were executed on illegal grows in 2012 — just two-thirds the number seen on average over the previous five years. Police also seized 20,000 fewer plants when compared to the same time period.
